This UL Bulletin outlines construction evaluation and testing methods for the fire- and wind-resistance performance of hip and ridge shingles. The fire-resistance test method is intended to evaluate the performance of shingles exposed to fire sources on the exterior of a building. The wind-resistance test method is intended to evaluate the ability of shingles to withstand wind speeds of 55-63 mph (88-101 kph).
