Standard for Hydrants for Fire-Protection Service

This Standard outlines the testing methods and performance requirements for hydrants that supply water for fire-protection service. One test helps evaluate stress cracking in metallic materials used in the construction of the hydrants. By testing the rigidity of the hydrant, this Standard helps reduce harm to the general public and helps ensure proper operation in the event of an emergency. Base valve and wet barrel hydrant types are both covered by this Standard.
